Christie Touch Panel Controller displays Windows XP desktop

The touch panel controller (TPC) on Christie Series II projectors runs on a Windows XP Embedded operating system. The older, Series I projectors ran under a Windows CE Embedded operating system. Under normal operation, the operating system is invisible to the end user with the Christie projector/server control application running on top of it. In some instances the Windows desktop will become visible. This can be caused by an interruption during the boot process, a crash of the Christie application, booting of the projector with a thumb drive installed in the TPC or by an intentional launching of it through the menu options.

As a rule, this is just a fluke and will disappear on reboot. If the problem persists, the CF (compact flash) card in the TPC may be failing or the TPC itself may be failing.

To resolve, first ensure that there are no USB devices plugged into the USB ports of the TPC. Thumb drives or other devices attached to the IMB USB ports are not a problem. Perform a full power reboot of the projector. If the problem persists, call our service department at (888)422-4778.
