This is a common call that we get from users of the above-referenced servers. It is generally an operator error.
The GDC IMB servers draw their power from the host projector. Once the server has been shutdown for the day using the SHUTDOWN command, the only way to reawaken the server is to power cycle the entire projector. There is no other mechanism for restarting the server other than a projector reboot.
To prevent damage to the server, it is vitally important to follow the correct procedure for shutting down the projector and server. Simply shutting down the projector (or placing it in STANDBY for NEC) without properly shutting down the projector is akin to pulling the power cord out of the back of your computer without shutting it down. You may be able to do it a few times but everytime that you do it, you are risking corrupting the systems files and creating other problems.
When preparing to place an NEC computer into STANDBY or turning OFF a Christie or Barco projector, please click the SHUTDOWN button on the server's SMS screen (SX3000/SX4000) or dashboard (SR-1000) and wait 3-4 minutes for the server to properly shutdown BEFORE switching the projector to STANDBY or OFF as appropriate. Please note, some Christie projectors, notably the SOLARIA ONE have an option to leave the server powered with the projector shutdown. If in doubt, ask your service professional.
